The President of the New York Stock Exchange, Richard Whitney, was released from prison to die at home. 4. The greatest wheat speculator, Arthur Cooper, died abroad, insolvent. 5. The President of the Bank of International Settlement shot himself. 6. The Great Bear of Wall Street, Mr. C. Rivermore, committed suicide.

The same year, 1923, Gene Sarazen won the U.S. Open and the U.S. PGA golf Championships. He played golf to the time of his death in his nineties and was still solvent.
